Cumbria County Council roadworks update

The County Council aims to ensure timely road maintenance with minimum disruption. Information to road users is vital and the following update relates to work being carried out now, or projects about to start in the near future.

As part of the ongoing works at Longpool, Kendal it is planned to start Phase 1 of the resurfacing work on Thursday 10 April 2003.

The sequence of work is as follows:-

Thursday 10 April - Work will begin on the northbound leg of the proposed roundabout adjacent to the entrance to the railway station. Access to the businesses, railway station and the surgery will be maintained although there will be some disruption which will be kept to a minimum.

Friday 11 April - The central area of the roundabout will be resurfaced with traffic flowing either side of the work.

Monday 14 April - The southbound leg of the roundabout will be resurfaced up to the junction of Ann Street with traffic diverted into the central area.

Work will then continue to complete the remaining works ready for the final resurfacing phase which is planned after the Easter holidays. The work will inevitably cause some delay and disruption to both motorists and pedestrians but everything will be done to minimise the inconvenience. The Contractor working on behalf of Cumbria County Council is Cumbria Contract Services.
