The local community of Hensingham celebrates this week when the Rt Hon Dr Jack Cunningham DLMP officially opens Hensingham Primary School on Friday 4th April at 2.00pm.
The opening will include the unveiling of a plaque and a speech by Jack Cunningham. A special assembly will be held with the children of the school singing their favourite songs. Other work has included extending the cloakroom entrance and refurbishing toilets for both staff and pupils, remodelling of the main entrance and changes to the parking area and main pedestrian entrance. A new heating has been installed as well as rewiring and some window replacement. The work cost in the region of £487k coming from the Education Capital Programme, Central Maintenance Fund and School Budget and School Formula Capital
