07/08/03 - Come join the fun at Lowther Show

On Friday 8th August through to Sunday 10th August, Cumbria County Council will have a major exhibition stand at this year’s Lowther Show. During the weekend there will be many activities for all ages, but particularly the young or young at heart, including; face painting, plant pot and tea towel decorating, cookery demonstrations, Jeffacus a visiting Roman Soldier, t-shirt printing, mountain bike competition and lots of give a ways. A crèche facility is also on the stand so that adults can enjoy the activities, safe in the knowledge that their children will be looked after by qualified childcare professionals.

County Councillor Tim Heslop, Cabinet Spokesperson for Culture, looks forward to this year’s event. He says

“Lowther Show is a wonderful opportunity for families to get together and enjoy a great day out. The County Council has been involved in the Lowther Show for many years now and each time it just gets bigger and better.

Our exhibition gives people the opportunity to learn more about the County Council and its services and have fun with their family and friends at the same time. This year John Crouch, Cumbria’s own celebrity chef, will demonstrate his culinary skills. There will be Jeffacus the Roman Soldier, dressed in full roman attire. Kids can try on his helmet, uniform, shield and sword and he will talk to them about the Roman Empire and answer any questions they may have. Cumbria Broadband will also be at the Show so anyone wishing to try out their IT skills can have a go on the laptops. I am sure that anyone coming along to the Show will have a great time.”
