Cumbrian students are celebrating today as they receive their A level results. As the County results became known, it is clear that young people have again done well this year, in line with the national picture. These youngsters will now have the opportunity to progress on to further or higher education. County Councillor Joan Stocker, Cabinet Spokesperson for Education says
"At the moment we only have a general idea from our schools about their results, but the general picture we are getting at this stage is that schools are very pleased with the results with the majority of them having an improvement on last year. I am delighted that the progress shown over the past year has been sustained in most schools. We are proud of the achievements of our young people in Cumbria and their success is a real tribute to them, their parents and the teachers who have supported them."
