From Monday September 1 there will be a major revision to bus timetables to rationalise the 56 and 57 services in Maryport. Both services will be operated under contract to Cumbria County Council by Stagecoach-in-Cumbria.
All journeys to the Ellenborough and Ewanrigg areas will now operate via the current service 57 route, running clockwise from the town centre via Grasmere Terrace, Ellenfoot Drive, Ewanrigg Road, Edinburgh Road, the Community Hospital and back into the town centre via the Co-op. The new service will run twice an hour in the morning and every 20 minutes in the afternoon and will complement service 30, which runs every 20 minutes in an anti-clockwise direction from the Ewanrigg area into the Town Centre.
Any passengers wishing to travel between points in Ewanrigg and Ellenborough can travel via the Town Centre at no extra charge.
Service 56 to Promenade and Harbour areas will now run Monday to Saturday (currently Monday; Friday and Saturday only), hourly from 9.15am until 12.15pm. Journeys will run in the reverse of the current route, into the town centre via Irish Street and Hutton Place to serve the stop outside the Co-op store on Curzon Street.
Because of the pedestrianisation of the lower part of Senhouse Street the main town centre stops will be at the junction of Curzon Street and Senhouse Street and also near the junction of Crosby Street and Senhouse Street. Most journeys will also stop outside the Co-op on Curzon Street to pick up and set down passengers. Fares on service 57 have been reduced and brought into line with those charged on service 30 from the Ewanrigg area.
A new Stagecoach timetable leaflet for all Maryport town services should be available from all the normal local outlets. Alternatively for more details of bus services throughout Cumbria ring the traveline 0870 6082608.
