Resurfacing Work Finishes on Warwick Road

Essential resurfacing work on the A69 Warwick Road at the junction with Tesco and Rosehill Industrial Estate finished today, ahead of schedule.

The resurfacing, which was carried out in three phases, started on July 26th and was due to finish at the end of the week. But evening and weekend working has meant that the scheme has finished ahead of schedule, minimising disruption for all road users.

Councillor John Collier, Chairman of Carlisle Local Committee, said:

"This essential resurfacing scheme has resulted in a safer, smoother and more convenient road surface for everyone who uses Warwick Road. I am pleased that we have able to finish the project ahead of time. Warwick Road is one of the busiest in Carlisle and inevitably, this recent work has caused some delays and inconvenience. We did take steps, including evening and weekend working and continually monitored traffic flows, to ensure that this was kept to a minimum. I would like to take this opportunity to thank people for their patience and I am sure that everyone will benefit from the much improved surface."

The work was carried out in three phases and involved temporarily closing the junction into the Rosehill Industrial Estate. Temporary traffic lights were also used. These were continually monitored and manually controlled when necessary to further ease disruption.
