At 10.45 on Tuesday 9 December at Moorfield Street Kitchen, Moorfield, Barrow in Furness, Santa’s Little Helpers get into the Christmas Spirit to ensure that elderly and vulnerable people receiving meals on wheels in the community get a thoroughly festive celebration meal.
County Councillor Tim Stoddard, Cabinet Spokesman for Cumbria Contract Services says,
“Meals on Wheels are provided throughout the county by Cumbria County Council’s Contract Services Premises Unit. Meals are delivered by community based volunteers and the Women’s Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS). The Meals on Wheels service provides invaluable support to frail and vulnerable people in the community.
However, everyone can help frail and elderly people this year by being a good neighbour and ensuring that we are aware of the needs of others, especially elderly or vulnerable people living close by.”
Alison Jackson, Cumbria’s Meals on Wheels Manager says,
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all meals on wheels volunteers for their support and continued goodwill. At this special time of year I would like to wish all our clients and volunteers a very merry and safe Christmas.”
The Meals on Wheels service needs volunteer Drivers and Helpers throughout Cumbria. For more information please call,
