Emergency County Council services are available over the holiday period. Details are as follows.
Highways
Members of the public who need to report problems on the county’s roads should always call the Highways Hotline 0845 6096609. The service is available 24 hours, seven days a week, including during the holiday period. All calls will be logged in the usual way, but only problems demanding emergency action will be dealt with over the holiday period.
The winter maintenance service of salting priority routes in the county when icy conditions are expected will continue throughout the holiday period. When frost is forecast, roads on the first priority list are pre-treated with salt within three hours of the start of the gritting run. Second priority roads are pre-treated within five hours. The aim is to finish by 8am at the latest.
Roads classified as third priority will be treated after first and second priority roads are clear, normally in daylight hours, but only during prolonged icy conditions.
