Cumbria County Council South Lakes roadworks update

The County Council aims to ensure timely road maintenance with minimum disruption. Information to road users is vital and the following update relates to work being carried out now, or projects about to start in the near future. 

Kendal Traffic Scheme 

Cumbria Contract Services will be resurfacing the Highgate / Lowther Street / Allhallows junction from Saturday 1 March starting at 6.00 p.m. and continuing until the planning operation is completed. Work will begin again at 9.00 a.m. on Sunday 2 March until completion. 

There will be some disruptions at a later undetermined date for the application of High Friction Surfacing and Road Markings. The work will involve separate intermittent closures of Lowther Street and Highgate at various times and there is likely to be traffic delays. 

On Monday 3 March 2003, Cumbria Contract Services will be resurfacing New Road. The work will begin at 6.00 p.m. after peak traffic flows and will continue each evening through to the early hours of the morning. The work is expected to take 5 nights to complete. Measures will be taken to minimise the levels of noise and inconvenience whilst work is underway. Again, High Friction Surfacing and Road Markings will also be needed at a later date and there will be intermittent closure of Lowther Street.
