Grants boost for Allerdale groups supporting social care projects

Today Cumbria County Council's Local Committee for Allerdale agreed to grant over £12,000 to community groups looking to deliver projects in keeping with the social care objectives of the Local Committee.

County Councillor Barbara Cannon Chair of the Local Committee says,

"We work together with Copeland Local Committee on this grants regime because a number of groups supporting both individuals and the wider community on related health, disability and social care issues are based in West Cumbria as a whole. We aim to make the application process therefore as accessible as possible. We have been again well over subscribed with grant applications, and are sorry that not all groups will have been able to get the money they asked for. However, I'm sure that the grant support of over £20,000 from Allerdale and Copeland local committees together, will be well used by community based groups."

The list of organisations supported through these grant decisions are as follows:

  • Whitehaven District Lions
  • West Cumbria Lourdes Group
  • Churches Together in Workington & District
  • St Johns Ambulance Keswick
  • Resolve Mediation Service
  • Age Concern NW Cumbria
  • West Cumbria Domestic Support
  • West Cumbria MIND Allerdale
  • Allerdale COSC
  • Local Agenda 21 in Allerdale
  • Annie Mawsons Sunbeams Trust
