Today, Cumbria County Council's Local Committee for Copeland agreed to contribute over £1000 towards the Passport Activity Scheme, working in partnership with Cumbria Outdoors Healthy Living Project and Copeland Borough Council. The Scheme encourages young people to take part in a range of activities to help them become more active, independent and confident which can lead them to better health in adulthood.
The scheme will target the Health Acton Zone priority wards of Cleator Moor, Distington, Rural Copeland, Millom, Hensingham, Harbour Mirehouse and Sandwith.
County Councillor Ronnie Calvin, Chairman of the Local Committee says
"This Committee welcomes any scheme that will provide good quality services to the young people of this area. This money will give these youngsters an opportunity to access facilities which they do not at present have access to and will be beneficial to their long term health."
