Over £52k to develop services to young people in Egremont & Mid Copeland

Today, Cumbria County Council's Local Committee for Copeland agreed to fund over £52K for one year to support and develop services for young people in Egremont & mid Copeland in partnership with Cumbria Association of Clubs for Young People.

County Councillor Ronnie Calvin, Chairman of the Local Committee says

"Last month this Local Committee agreed to contribute over £3k to the Wyndham Youth Centre in Egremont to go towards upgrading the coffee bar facilities. The refurbishment of the coffee bar area is only the start of the development plan for Wyndham Youth Centre. It aims to include an after school drop in service, access to computers for homework support and other opportunities to plan social activities. We need to invest in the young people of today and this money that has been agreed today will go towards this development and create a Centre of Excellence that will support, advise and stimulate these youngsters through programmes that provide opportunities for them to develop personal and social skills in a safe, equipped environment."
