Youngsters will be able to pick up prizes from the next meeting of St Aidan's Neighbourhood Forum on Wednesday, February 19. Road safety officer Chris Wills is hosting a children's road safety quiz and, besides the prizes, every child will go away with a free gift. The out-of-the-ordinary meeting of the forum, run under the auspices of Carlisle Local Committee of Cumbria County Council, is being held at Greystone Community Centre, Close Street, Carlisle. The evening starts at 6pm, with refreshments available from 5.45pm, and is open to all in the St Aidan's Ward.
The quiz, aimed mainly at primary school children, is to help the youngsters learn about safe road use. Palace Cycles of Botchergate, Carlisle, are providing at a discount cycle helmets, lights, fluorescent jackets and puncture repair kits as prizes. In addition there will be a free gift for every child who attends.
At the forum will be the community police officer for St Aidan's, PC Mac Maguire, to talk about any concerns which people in St Aidan's have about crime or disorder. Cumbria county and Carlisle city councillors will also be on hand to listen to any matters or queries which residents want to raise. St Aidan's Neighbourhood Forum has funds from which it can make grants to voluntary, non-profitmaking community groups and organisations. An update on groups that have received funding will be given at the meeting.
