Cumbrian Secondary Schools do well in National League Tables

National league tables published today by the Dfes show that Cumbrian secondary school pupils have once again performed well in their examinations.

County Councillor Joan Stocker, Cabinet Spokesperson for Education says

"I am delighted that Cumbria has once again performed better than the national average and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the staff and pupils for their hard work and dedication through these examinations. I am pleased to see that this County's results have continued to improve over the years. Gaining good qualifications is so important for these young people to gain access to more career opportunities for their future, well done."

John Nellist, Director of Education says

"This year's results have again shown continuing improvement from the young students in our secondary schools and I would like to congratulate them all on their achievements. It is, however, important that even though these tables indicate how well a school is doing, the schools are not judged by league tables alone, many factors can influence results. The standard of teaching in Cumbria is very good and these tables reflect that. Well done to everyone."
