Joining Up Services for Young People in Cumbria Conference

On Saturday 1st February, Cumbria County Council, Cumbria Youth Alliance and Connexions Cumbria will be holding a Conference "Joining Up Services for Young People in Cumbria" at Rheged Discovery Centre in Penrith. The Conference will give key partners who currently provide services to young people the opportunity to meet and share good practice. Partners will look at ways to add value to the way services are planned, co-ordinated and delivered throughout the County and also further improve quality standards.

County Councillor Joan Stocker, Cabinet Spokesperson for Education says

"Cumbria County Council welcomes any initiative that aims to provide good quality services to the young people of this area. We all need to work together to share best practice and maximise everyone's efforts to serve these youngsters and improve and develop the services that we already provide. I am delighted to support youth provision in the County and partnership working guarantees young people to have 'a voice' in our County."

Ivan Lewis MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Adult Learning and Skills says

"I am delighted that key partners in Cumbria are meeting to consider how to join up services for young people. I am sure that the conference will contribute greatly to the modernisation of youth services, building on work carried out by many agencies and partners. After years of neglect and under funding youth services are back where they belong as a high policy priority. We now have a clear framework, standards and additional resources. I am confident that by working together we can deliver the innovative, quality and cohesive services our young people deserve. I wish them every success with the conference and their commitment to joint working."
