Traffic calming work to start in Kirkland & Ennerdale

On Monday 20th January work will start to introduce traffic calming measures to the Village of Ennerdale Bridge. The work, which will last for approximately 3 weeks, is designed to reduce the speed of traffic travelling through the village and around Ennerdale School, however, due to the extent of the work involved some road closures will be necessary to ensure the safety for both the motorist and contractor's work force.

The road entering the village from Cleator Moor will be first to close from 27th January for 5 days. The C4004 to the south of the Vicarage Lane junction will then be closed for 5 days. Signed diversions will be in operation during this time.

Warning signs, extended parking facilities around the school, a footway across Ennerdale Bridge and a footway around the school are some of the new traffic calming measures being introduced.
