Ambleside Parking Management Scheme gets the go ahead

A much awaited parking management scheme for scenic Ambleside moves a step closer today as Cumbria County Council's South Lakes Local Committee agreed to make a traffic regulation consolidation order to introduce disc parking for on-street parking. 

County Councillor Ian Stewart, Chair of South Lakes Local Committee, says, 

"The County Council responds actively to community requests for action to deal with parking and travel problems. Area Action Plans were set up to consider and put forward recommendations to the Council on such issues. The Lakes Parish Area Action Plan put to us a disc parking scheme for on-street parking to ease parking problems and I am delighted that we are now in a position to make a traffic regulation order to implement the scheme, which has strong local support and will be welcomed by the local community."
