First Company Double for Cumbria Partnership

Economic regeneration is under the spotlight when the Chief Executives of Cumbria's two regeneration companies address the Cumbria Strategic Partnership (CSP), which meets tomorrow at Westlakes Science Park, Conference Centre at 10am. Bob Pointing, West Lakes Rennaisance and Chris Torkington, Rural Regeneration Cumbria will share a platform for first time, to update members of the Partnership on the plans being put in place by both companies to drive forward the economic development agenda for the county.

In addition Graham Lamont, Vice Chair of the Partnership will present a draft Sub Regional Strategy for the county and Doug Millington, General Manager, Westlakes Properties Limited will provide an insight into the work of the science park.

Bill Lowther, Chair of the CSP says;

"I am delighted that the members of the Partnership have an early opportunity to hear at first hand what plans both Chris Torkington and Bob Pointing have in mind. The long-term economic future of Cumbria is heavily dependent on the success of the Rural and Urban Regeneration Companies. Great credit goes to all those involved in getting the companies off the ground, but its now up to them to show their mettle. In particular I'm sure members will be keen to hear examples of particular projects that perhaps point the way ahead. Later in the day we will pull together that information as we debate the Sub Regional Strategy and by the end of the morning come to a consensus on key actions for us to progress as a Partnership."
