High Level Task Force to meet with Heredities

Cumbria's High Level Task Force has met with the receivers of Heredities Ltd, giftware company at Kirkby Stephen following news that the business had been advertised in the financial press. The collapse leaves 43 people redundant.

A lot of interest has been shown and proposals from interested parties will be known by close of business 23 July 2003. Councillor Lawson Short, Chair of the Task Force, says,

"Although it is still to early to say at this stage whether the business will continue in Kirkby Stephen, it was helpful to meet with the receivers to gain a true understanding of the situation. The Task Force aims to find out what the problems are, what can be done to avoid job losses and where job losses are inevitable, to provide help and support to those people affected. It is essential that those people who have lost their jobs also take advantage of the help being provided by Eden District Council and the Job Centre.

The Task Force will do all it can to ensure that Heredities premises are brought back into use as quickly as possible. "

Nicola Clark, spokesperson for Tomlinson's, the receivers, says,

"The involvement of the High Level Task Force is welcomed. We are working with the High Level Task Force to identify a solution to the site and are dealing with numerous parties who have expressed an interest in the business of Heredities."
