County Councillor Joan Stocker, Cabinet Spokesperson for Education says
"This is a fabulous competition for all young people to come together and take part in a high profile event and have fun with their friends and families at the same time. I am delighted that the event is in the South of the County this year. Cumbria Sport work extremely hard to develop sporting activities available to the young people of this County and continue to achieve high standards. This is a fun way for young people to participate in the sport that they love and I wish everyone who enters the competition every success."
Beck Richardson, Sports Development Officer (Community) for Cumbria Sport says
"Cumbria Sport Partnership runs this event on an annual basis and the Games have previously only taken place in Carlisle. This year, following a successful bid by South Lakeland District Council to Cumbria Sport Partnership, South Lakeland is hosting the event for the first time. This year the event is being aimed at spectators as well as competitors. Obviously the focus of the Games will remain on the young competitors, but entertainment and further attractions for spectators and families will be on going throughout the day. So come along and support the teams on the day!"
All competitors will be presented with a city bag, kindly provided by Lakeland Willow Spring Water, containing a District T shirt, produced by ICIS and sponsored by Lakeland Willow Spring Water, a sports water bottle, programme of events, pen and certificate.
