On Wednesday 25th June at 6pm, Mark Drummond, Club/Coach Development Officer for Cumbria Sport presents Workington Cricket Club with their Sport England Clubmark Award. The Club is the first sports club in the County to receive this award for providing a safe and effective child friendly environment at the Club.
The Sport England Clubmark Scheme is a nationally adopted set of standards for enabling national governing bodies of sport and their partner clubs to set and meet standards that will lead to better quality sports club provision for children and young people.
Mark Drummond, Club/Coach Development Officer for Cumbria Sport has been working with the Club in the run up to receiving the award. He says:
“This is a great achievement for this club. They have been working with Cumbria Sport for several months and have now achieved the required standards. Gaining this award demonstrates the dedication and commitment that Workington Cricket Club has made to their junior section. It is a real achievement for the club and puts them at the forefront of youth cricket.”
