On Saturday 21st June Cumbria Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership is holding a Fun Day to celebrate National Sure Start Month. The Fund Day will be held at the Longtown & Bewcastle Sure Start building, Mary Street, Longtown from 10am until 3.30pm.
The event line up includes BJ the Disco Clown, bouncy castle, messy play, craft, and food taster sessions. Parents will also be able to pick up general information about various support services in their area for children under 4 years.
County Councillor Joan Stocker, Cabinet Spokesperson for Education says
"This Fun Day is a wonderful opportunity for parents and young children to have a great day out and find out how they can benefit from Sure Start activities. One of Cumbria County Council's main priorities is to extend early years education and childcare services. Access to good nursery education and childcare are essential to contribute to the well-being of families and the educational progress. The Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership works in partnership with local parents to improve how these services are delivered locally. The North Cumbria Mini Sure Start programme has created 15 new jobs and will spend £2 million pounds over 2 years. This investment in our children's future will make a real difference to families in rural communities."
Jane Willamson, Early Years & Childcare Manager for Cumbria Early Years Development & Childcare Partnership says
"The Fun Day is a celebration of all the wonderful things now happening in Longtown & Bewcastle as a result of the Mini Sure Start Programme."
Elaine Thomas, Longtown & Bewcastle Mini Sure Start Programme Manager says to all parents & families with babies and young children,
"Come along, join in the fun, see the new Sure Start Centre and your exciting new Toy Library - just opened this week. We now have funding for 2 more years and we need parents and grandparents to get involved in developing and managing Sure Start so that we can really make a difference for children & families in all of the Longtown & Bewcastle parishes. Join Sally and the 'Busy Builders' and turn your good ideas into fun for everyone."
