Positive work from money spent on services to Youth in Copeland

This week, Cumbria County Council’s Local Committee for Copeland heard how the money they allocated to fund projects to develop youth provision, representation and participation in Copeland has been spent.  Because of the success the Local Committee agreed to allocated a further £5,000 to the Neighbourhood Development Officer for Youth to make sure the good work continues.

County Councillor Ronnie Calvin, Chair of the Local Committee, says,

“We allocated this money directly to the Neighbourhood Development Officer for Youth so he could respond quickly to the needs of the youngsters in this area instead of having to wait for full Committee meetings to take place.  Many projects have benefited from the money we allocated last year so I am delighted that we can allocate another £5,000 this year.  This Committee will always support youth provision in Copeland and a lot of good work can come out of partnership working.  We are committed to providing services for young people in the area and any additional money gives these young people the chance to participate in various activities, getting them to meet new people and avoiding social exclusion.”
