Today, Cumbria County Council's Eden Local Committee committed £21,750 to support early years development. £3,000 was awarded to Bolton Nursery group, £5,000 towards one to one special needs support and £13,750 to fund early years development support.
County Councillor Mary Warburton, Chair of Eden Local Committee, says,
"Today's funding decisions highlight Eden Local Committee's commitment to Early Years development in local communities. This is a significant budget undertaking to secure early years development, special needs services and to promote local initiatives.
The Bolton Nursery Group project is a locally based initiative providing early years services to local people and I am delighted to see the expansion of the provision. The group currently provides three nursery education sessions per week at the Memorial Hall and a Parent and Toddler day session each week. Significant local market research highlighted the need for full day care for babies and very young children, out of school care for term time and holidays as well as an extension to the current nursery provision to five days. Taking this on board, the Groups expansion project is ambitious, aiming to create a purpose built 26 place full day care facility, including nursery education sessions and eight out of school childcare places to operate on a year round basis.
Not only is this project an excellent example of early years provision but will create jobs and enable parents and carers to work if they wish to, bringing economic advantages to the community too."
