Affordable housing on way through new Trust Committee

Today, Cumbria County Council's South Lakeland Local Committee appointed three of its members to join with members appointed by Eden Local Committee to form the new Joint Committee for the Holehird Trust. The Trust aims to develop the health, education and social welfare for the people of the old county of Westmorland and currently holds investments worth more than £400,000. 

County Councillor Anne Parker, Chair of South lakes Local Committee says, 

"I am delighted that South Lakes Local Committee members will have a leading role in the distribution of the trusts wealth to further support local need in the area. The Trust fund will enable the development of affordable housing in Troutbeck and on a site on trust land yet to be identified. 

This move will enable us to redefine the Trust's objectives more clearly, bringing the much-needed development of social housing and the distribution of accumulated income." 

The members who have been appointed to the trust are County Councillors Anne Parker, Les Lishman and Roger Bingham representing the former county of Westmorland.
