Carlisle's new variable message signs erected

New signs being installed throughout Carlisle city centre to advise motorists of available parking spaces have been erected. 

The electronic variable Message Signs (VMS) are aimed at directing motorists to available spaces to stop them driving around the city looking for a parking space, thereby easing congestion problems in the city. 

All the signs, except one on Lowther Street, are currently being erected although none will be operational for at least two weeks to enable the system to be tested. 

The signs will be located at: Lowther Street, Georgian Way, Eden Bridge, Castle Way west bound, Castle Way east bound, West Tower Street, Warwick Road, Botchergate, James Street, Nelson Bridge, Dalston Road, Church Street/Bridge Street at Caldewgate, and Lowther Street.
