Today, Cumbria County Council's Local Committee for Copeland awarded £6,507 to go towards the development of an all weather pitch and changing facilities based at Millom School.
The project is expected to increase the amount of people of all ages becoming more involved in sport which would benefit not only the community but also individual's health.
County Councillor Ronnie Calvin, Chair of the Local Committee says
"This is a worthwhile project to increase the development of sporting activity for the people in Millom. North Cumbria Health Action Zone identified the area as a priority ward which has seen a rise in unemployment and social deprivation over many years. Community sports facilities in the area are few and far between and those currently available are unable to meet the demands of the local community so I am delighted that we are able to support the project."
