Employees win Risk Identification Competition

At 11.00a.m. on Friday 16 May 2003 at Seascale School, Croft Head Road, Seascale, County Council Chairman, Ralph Aldersey presents certificates to two County Council employees for winning a Risk Identification competition.

Susan Dudding, a Catering Assistant at Seascale School and Ross Sterling a Social Worker in Barrow, both identified possible risks in the workplace that have since been addressed by the County Council, improving safety for colleagues in the workplace. Each winner will receive a certificate along with a £50 voucher for Marks & Spencer.

Councillor Aldersey is looking forward to presenting the employees with their certificates. He says

"I am delighted to be presenting these two employees with these certificates. This is the first time the Council has run this competition. We want to get employees involved as they are the ones working in particular environments and situations where possible risks may be identified. Susan, a Catering Assistant felt that there was a need to improve the tables in the dining areas of schools to prevent back injury, and Ross, a Social Worker, brought up the issue of lone working. This is an issue currently being addressed by the Council to ensure the safety of our staff. Both these ideas have now been passed to the appropriate departments to pursue."
