Grange Library closed as mark of respect

Grange-over-Sands Library will be closing on Friday, 30th May, from 11.30am to 1.30pm to enable staff to attend a memorial service for the late Councillor Peter Jackson. 

Councillor Jackson, who lived at Grange and represented the town on the County Council, was spokesman for Libraries and Culture and was a strong advocate and campaigner for the Library Service. He was greatly respected by all the staff who work within Cumbria's Libraries. 

Alan Welton, Cumbria's Library Services Manager, said:   

"Councillor Jackson was a keen supporter of the Cumbria Library Service and was a regular user of his local library at Grange, he will be sorely missed. Staff at Grange Library thought very highly of Mr Jackson and particularly wanted to attend the memorial service. Closing for a short time on Friday, out of respect for Councillor Jackson, will enable them to do so." 

The memorial service will take place in St Paul's Parish Church, Hampsfell Road, Grange-over-Sands, at 12 noon.
