Mike Siegal is County Council's New Deputy Chief Executive

Cumbria County Council have today announced that Mike Siegal, currently Director of Social Services, has been appointed as the Council's Deputy Chief Executive.

In a joint statement Leader of the County Council, Rex Toft and Chief Executive, Louis Victory say:

"We were delighted to appoint Mike Siegal as Deputy Chief Executive and look forward to working with him. He was appointed from an exceptionally strong field of internal and external candidates and this is a real tribute to him and to the quality of our in-house team as a whole.

The new post of Deputy Chief Executive is key to our success in pressing forward our drive for service excellence. We aim to be one of the very best Councils in the UK, and Mike Siegal's role in heading up performance improvement will make a big contribution to this."

Commenting on his appointment Mike Siegal says:

"Naturally I'm very pleased to have been successful in becoming Deputy Chief Executive. I've worked in Cumbria for 15 years and have a great love for the county and the utmost respect for those who work for the County Council. Most important, this post provides the opportunity to further improve performance and the quality of services delivered to the people of Cumbria on behalf of the County Council. This new post presents an exciting challenge and of course continuing my career in both Cumbria and the County Council will enable me to build on the many excellent working relationships I have developed."
