New Chairman elected for Cumbria County Council

Today, County Councillor Joe Nicholson was elected as the new Chairman of Cumbria County Council at the Annual General Meeting in Kendal. Councillor Jim Webster from Ulverston was also elected as the new Vice-Chairman. 

Joe was elected to Cumbria County Council in 1982 and represents Sedbergh & District and Kirkby Lonsdale. He is also a member of South Lakeland Local Committee. He says: 

"It is a great honour to be elected Chairman of Cumbria County Council. I am looking forward to promoting the County Council both inside and outside the County to deliver the services that meet the needs of the local people. I am a strong believer in Cumbria and its people and will continue to work on their behalf to the best of my ability never giving less than my best at all times."
