18/11/03 - Local Committee supports Distington Community Participation Project

Recently, Cumbria County Council’s Local Committee for Copeland agreed to fund £2k to support the Distington Community Participation Project.   

This project was set up in 1999 to promote community participation and regeneration in Distington.  Sine then the project has attracted large amounts of funding into the area to support a wide variety of voluntary and community organisations.  

County Councillor Ronnie Calvin, Chair of the Local Committee says

“This project has made a real difference to the local people of Distington and is a highly regarded community organisation.  It has been successful in attracting income for this area over the last few years, however there has been times where some funding that was expected hasn’t materialised so I am pleased that we have been able to award this money to make sure the project continues to support the Distington community.”
