18/11/03 - Raising money for Children In Need

Outside Carlisle’s Town Hall on Friday 21stNovember at 12.30pm, staff from Cumbria Early Years Development & Childcare Partnership are organising a conga for all Cumbria County Council staff to join.  The conga will raise money for Children in Need.  Anyone wanting to join in will be asked to donate £1 to the appeal.

Nicola Jackson, Information and Projects Manager at Cumbria Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership, is taking part in the conga.  She says

“The Partnership works for all children in Cumbria to ensure they have the best start in life, in terms of their education, health and social well-being.  Helping children in need is therefore closely linked to what we do, and we are working closely with colleagues in other parts of the council to help and support all children and their parents in Cumbria.  The Conga is a fun way of raising money for a cause close to all our hearts.”

The Education Department is also holding a Uniform Day to raise money for the appeal.  Staff have been asked to come to work dressed in any uniform/costume/kit and pay £1 for the privilege to Children in Need.  Those who don’t wear a uniform or can’t produce a note from home with an acceptable excuse will be asked to contribute £2.  There will be a prize for the best uniform and the best or silliest excuse.
