20/11/03 - County Council Receives Award for Pension Fund

Cumbria County Council is celebrating this week after receiving the Local Government Chronicle’s Public Treasurer Award for the Cumbria Pension Fund.  The award was presented to Keith Fitzpatrick, Cumbria County Council’s Investment, Insurance & Risk Management Officer at the annual awards ceremony recently in London.   

The awards take into account the performance of nearly 100 local authorities’ pension funds across the Country.  Cumbria received the award for first place in the Property category.  

Cumbria County Council Chairman, Joe Nicholson says

“I am delighted that Cumbria Pension Fund has received this award from the LGC.  Coming first out of 100 in the local authority league table is a great achievement.

Cumbria also achieved first place in the Property category at the 2000 awards even so this is a very pleasing double achievement.  These results are very encouraging and I hope it continues.”
