16/10/03 - Local Committee to consider funding for Young Firefighters Project

On Friday 17thOctober at 1pm at St Michaels Church in Workington, Cumbria County Council’s Local Committee for Allerdale with consider funding for the Young Firefighters Project.  The Project requires a further £6k to enable it to continue for another year.

The Project provides training and development opportunities for a number of less advantaged young people, principally through participation in Fire Service related activities.  There are also training and preparations for work outcomes for the young people.

County Councillor Barbara Cannon, Chair of the Local Committee says

“Last year the Local Committee contributed over £9k towards this project.  We have since been very encouraged by the very positive feedback that we have received about the success of the project over the last 12 months.  We are looking forward to Paul Hancock from the Fire Service coming along to the Committee to talk about how successful the project has been, how we helped to fund it, and in what ways we can help them continue in this next year.”
