16/10/03 - Plans to support Workington Family Support Centre

On Friday 17thOctober at 1pm at St Michaels Church in Workington, Cumbria County Council’s Local Committee for Allerdale will consider a proposal to contribute to the development of  Workington Family Support Centre in Westfield.  

The Family Centre will provide numerous services to local people working predominantly with families and younger children.

County Councillor Barbara Cannon, Chair of the Allerdale Local Committee says;

“The Allerdale area contains nearly one third of all the top 20% most deprived wards throughout Cumbria.  This Local Committee has been very supportive of this development and will do all we can to make sure that the scheme is successful. The development of additional neighbourhood nurseries and childrens’ centres is urgently needed to help and support parents with children, and those with childcare responsibilities who need to get out to work.”
