At 11.00 a.m. on Wednesday 22 October at Newton Rigg College, Penrith, Jean Bradshaw, Acting Corporate Director of Social services presents professionally recognised NVQ qualification certificates and other certificates of achievement to 25 Social Workers and other Social Care staff.
Recipients work across the spectrum of Social Care and include Social Workers, Social Care Workers and Administrative staff. This event is a celebration of success for people who have achieved accredited awards or attended extensive management training programmes in the last year.
Jean Bradshaw, Acting Corporate Director of Social services explains the advantages of the training and the importance of the `Celebration of Success’ event. She says,
"Training staff compliments our policy of working towards the continual improvement of our services. As a professionally recognised qualification, the NVQ is transferable and allows staff to move between the independent and public care sectors. Cumbria County Council’s Training Strategy has been carefully constructed to make sure that Social Services is ready for the challenges of the 21stcentury and can achieve the aims of the Government’s modernisation agenda.
All the candidates have worked extremely hard to achieve their awards. They deserve recognition for their commitment to learning and improving the skills and knowledge base for the Health and Social Care sector. In line with the Government’s strategy for the future training of health and social care workers, we work with our employees to improve and develop them in their roles.
It is important that we recognize the achievements of social care staff and this event celebrates their success. Our greatest resource is our workforce and I am delighted to be able to present these awards in recognition of their tremendous achievements”
