At 10.30 a.m. on Thursday 30 October at 5 Brunswick Street, Carlisle, Paul Moore, the new Head of Children and Family Services, Cumbria Social services presents certificates of achievement to young people involved with Social Services, many who are looked after by Cumbria County Council’s team of foster carers and residential care staff.
The certificates, to be presented to 14 young people, are Awards Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) Youth Awards. They are nationally recognized awards of achievement including key skills such as problem solving, working with others communication and self improvement skills. County Councillor John Mallinson, Cabinet spokesman for Care and Social Services says,
“These certificates are a real indication of achievement for these young people. Cumbria County Council works to support vulnerable young people and aims to increase life chances and educational achievement. PAC carries out the work with young people to create these incredible pieces of artwork on our behalf. PAC encourage young people’s creativity and their support work is a valuable part of our strategy for building esteem, personal achievement and learning development.”
Paul Moore, Head of Children’s and Family Services explains the presentation and following exhibition of work. He says,
“I am delighted to be presenting the awards to young people in our care, highlighting their considerable achievements. The young people involved, their families and carers, along with the professionals who have been involved, will attend the presentation. There are some tremendous pieces of creative work and the presentation will mark the start of two PAC open days on 30thand 31stOctober when the work will be displayed. Staff and the young people involved will be available to talk about their work.
