At 1.30pm on Wednesday 28thApril at Rheged Discovery Centre in Penrith, recently retired Social Services Director Jean Bradshaw receives her 25 years long service award along with 22 colleagues.
County Councillor John Mallinson, Cabinet Spokesperson for Care & Social Services, will present awards.
Normally Cumbria County Council’s Long Service Awards are awarded for 35 years service. However the County Council has recently looked at implementing a new awards and recognition scheme for improvement & excellent service to the County. The scheme will be piloted in Social Services and this is the first stage of awards.
The recipients include Social Workers, a Clerk, 2 Family Centre Managers, a Rehabilitation Officer, Contracts Managers, an Administration Manager, a Team Manager, a Permanency & Adoption Manager and a Leaving Care & Family Support Service Manager. Between them they have logged up over 700 years of public service.
Stephen Wilds, Interim Director for Social Services says,
“These awards reflect the dedication and loyalty that these members of staff have given to Cumbria Social Services. It is a wonderful achievement and I would like to thank them for the service they have provided to the people of Cumbria over the last 25 years.”
The Awards recognise an incredible commitment from those who have served vulnerable people in the community of Cumbria for most or in some cases, all of their working lives.
