30/04/04 - Cumbria Social Services goes online : Cumbria County Council

At 2.00pm on Tuesday 4 May at the Brunswick House Medical Group, 1 Brunswick Street, Carlisle, County Councillor John Mallinson, launches a new online referral service at Dr Robert Westgate’s Carlisle surgery. The service enables members of the public and professionals from other agencies to apply for services over the Internet.

County Councillor John Mallinson, Cabinet spokesman for Care and Social Services says,

"This is a significant step forward in modernising social services and the move towards electronic government. The online forms are easy to complete and the online service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This service is fully compliant with the national assessment frameworks for both children and adults. It will make access to social services easier for the people of Cumbria and enable referrals from doctors and other professionals to be dealt with more efficiently. This is an example of Cumbria County Council’s commitment to partnership working and service improvement.”

County Councillor John Mallinson and Stephen Wilds, Interim Corporate Director of Social Services will attend the launch at Dr Westgate’s surgery. The online service is available on the Cumbria Social Services website.
