At 1.00pm on Thursday 19 August, Princess Street Day Centre in Workington hosts an open day for invited guests, carers, service users and their relatives to celebrate the refurbishment of the centre.
The centre is managed by Cumbria Care where services are provided to older adults with dementia and Alzheimer's disease on behalf of Cumbria County Council. The work to refurbish the centre began in April. The work has included new carpets and dining furniture, a partition to create a quiet space and redecoration throughout. County Councillor Tim Stoddard, cabinet spokesman for Cumbria Care says,
"Cumbria County Council is committed to supporting vulnerable people and their carers. Day care services for people with dementia are much needed and appreciated. I am pleased that the Princess Street refurbishment is complete and the centre is more attractive for staff and service users. The new quiet area will be a welcome asset to the centre. The staff worked incredibly hard throughout the refurbishment closing for only two days and the open day will also celebrate the commitment of the staff to provide services to older adults in Workington."
