19/8/2004 - Congratulations to A level students

Cumbrian County Council today congratulates students and teachers on A level results across the county. Young people gaining good A level passes have the opportunity to progress on to further or higher education.

County Councillor Joan Stocker, Cabinet Spokesperson for Education says

"At the moment we only have a general idea from our schools about their results, but the general picture we are getting at this stage is that schools are very pleased with the results. It takes hard work and determination to achieve A level standards. We hope that even more students than in previous years have achieved the grades they need to secure the university place or career to which they aspire.

We are proud of the achievements of our young people in Cumbria and their success is a real tribute to them, their parents and the teachers who have supported them."
