13/12/2004 - Finding out what the residents of Denton Holme and Longsowerby want

Results of a recent community survey on what residents of Denton Holme and Longsowerby want to improve the area will be discussed at the next neighbourhood forum. The meeting will be on Tuesday 14 December in Morley Street Community Centre at 6.30pm.

The survey covered issue such as traffic on Denton Street, public transport, facilities for young people and the river Caldew.

Local county councillor, Chris Southward said:

"Forum meetings give residents an opportunity to raise any issue or concern they may have about the area where they live. The county council and city council recently carried out a survey called 'what can be done to improve Denton Holme and Lonsowerby? 'your future in your hands'. This survey was distributed to every household in the area on a range of issues. The information will provide us with vital information about local people's views. We will use it to prioritise the issues that are important to them. This is a public meeting so anyone can attend. I hope we see a good turn out on the 14th."

Children from Robert Ferguson Primary School will be providing the entertainment at the meeting. To celebrate the festive season members of the forum would like residents to stay after the meeting and join them for a glass of wine and mince pie.

Normal grant applications will also be considered. Anyone interested in applying for a grant through the forum can contact Carlisle Area Support team on 01228 606317 for an application form.
