9/12/2004 - Longtown and Bewcastle neighbourhood forum address local issues and concerns

Residents of Longtown & Bewcastle will have an opportunity to raise any concerns from health services to highways at the next neighbourhood forum for the area. The meeting will be on Monday 13 December in Longtown Community Centre from 7.30pm.

Two main issues on the agenda will be general highways issues and also a public consultation on the future of acute health services in North Cumbria.

Councillor Donald Jefferson, chairman of the forum said:

"Neighborhood forums focus on issues that are at the heart of the local community. We are here to look into any issue or concern that anyone may have. This meeting will give residents an opportunity to air their views about ongoing highways issues in this area. The county council's area engineer will attend the meeting so anyone can ask questions or express any concerns they may have. We will also be consulting on the options for change for North Cumbria hospitals. Some of these changes will obviously have an effect on the way services are currently provided. I would urge anyone who has an interest in these issues or wants to raise anything else with the forum to attend the meeting on the 13th."

The meeting will also provide an opportunity to share news and updates from all parishes across the area. Normal grant applications will also be considered. Anyone interested in applying for a grant through the forum can contact Carlisle Area Support team on 01228 606317 for an application form.
