Due to the success of the first round of Telling Tales Together courses, Cumbria County Council’s Adult Education Service are delighted to be able to offer a further 15 courses throughout the County. These exciting new courses are provided in partnership with the Library Service and aim to improve the basic skills of adults across the area.
These FREE courses will be available in libraries throughout the County. They will give those interested the opportunity to learn about why are stories told, and who tells them; creating and using a Story Sacks; Myths & Legends; Props for Storytelling and much, much more. The course will lead to a nationally recognised level 2 Storyteller qualification and the opportunity to take a national Adult Literacy Test at level 1 or 2.
County Councillor Joan Stocker, Cabinet Spokesperson for Education says
“These courses are the beginning of a strong working partnership between Cumbria Adult Education Service and the County Library Service. Libraries are natural places for people to learn in and hopefully participants will benefit not only from the course but also the resources the library has on offer. Our Adult Education Service works hard to provide high quality education opportunities for adult learners. We aim to meet the needs of local communities and individuals, encouraging lifelong learning through partnership with other education and learning providers. These courses are a good example of that and anyone, no matter how old, who wants to improve their basic skills, takes this opportunity…. It is never too late to learn!"
