Two Cumbrian schools are celebrating this week after being awarded Specialist School Status by the DfES. These schools will now have an additional focus on their chosen subject and will receive additional Government funding to develop their specialism.
Schools presented a 4-year school and community development plan with ambitious but achievable targets and performance indicators. Each school has had to raise sponsorship in order to be considered.
Schools that have been awarded specialist status are as follows:

"I am delighted that this County has again been successful in securing specialist status in another 2 schools. Both Schools have worked extremely hard to gain the sponsorship required to apply for specialist status and I would like to congratulate them on their success. The extra resources will benefit the children and the local community. The schools will now have an additional focus on their chosen subject area but will still meet the full National Curriculum requirements and deliver a broad and balanced education to all pupils."
