06/07/04 - Dinosaurs are back in town

Cumbria County Council's Penrith and Carlisle libraries will hold Dinosuar Workshop days for children at the beginning of the summer holidays 2004. The aim of the workshops is to teach children more about dinosaurs in a way that is interesting and fun. A Bristol University expert is going to involve the children in a talk with a photo slideshow and children over 5 will make plaster casts of dinosaur fossils.

The fossil making will be messy so old clothes are essential! The sessions will cover two days, the 21st and 22nd of July. Day one will be at Penrith Library and will divide into four 1hr sessions. There are only a certain number of places so it's a good idea to book first to ensure definite places. Day two will take place at Carlisle Library in the morning and Harraby Library in the afternoon. Both morning and afternoon are two 1hr sessions. You can book tickets in the Carlisle, Penrith and Harraby libraries, obviously booking at the library that your child be attending. The Enquiry Desk at each library will take the bookings. As an alternative, parents or guardians can also book by calling Penrith library on 01768 242100 or Carlisle library on 01228 607320.

The Cumbria County Council Area Librarian says:

"These two days will widen your childs' knowledge of dinosaurs and ensure they have fun while doing so."
