09/06/04 - New Chair for Allerdale Local Committee

County Councillor Gerald Humes was yesterday elected as the new Chairman for Allerdale Local Committee. County Councillor Joe Holliday was elected as Vice-Chair.   

Councillor Humes says   

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the previous Chair, Councillor Barbara Cannon, and the Vice-Chair, Councillor Alan Clark for all their hard work over the last year.   

Allerdale Local Committee is known for championing the needs of West Cumbrian citizens; for challenging head quarters about its priorities; the continued devolving of its budgets and the balance that we need between the centre and the local. 

I am very pleased to have Councillor Holliday as Vice Chair for the year. I will re-enforce the continuing effectiveness of Allerdale Local Committee both in getting those messages across and delivering the best local County Council services we possibly can."
