County Councillor Oliver Pearson has been elected Chairman of Cumbria County Council's South Lakeland local committee. County Councillor Ron Mein was elected as Vice-Chair.
Oliver Pearson has been a member of Cumbria County Council since 2001 representing High Furness and Vice Chair of South Lakeland local committee for the past two years. He is married to Susannah and has four children. Oliver works as Estate Secretary for the Graythwaite Estate, home of the Sandys family. He is also the Chairman and trustee for Hawkshead Market House trust. Councillor Pearson says,
"It is an honour to be Chairman of South Lakeland local committee. I am looking forward to working with my council colleagues and other organisations to promote the economic, social and environmental well being of the people of South Lakeland."
County Councillor Ron Mein was elected to the Council in 2001. He is Chairman of the Personnel Cases Committee and a member of the Invest to Save & Improve Working Group. Ron represents the council on a number of outside bodies and is also Chairman of Colton Parish Council. Councillor Mein says,
"My Division is Cartmel. It covers a large area from Greenodd along the coast to Grange-over-Sands and a large area between lakes Windermere and Coniston. I have an industrial background and retired from GlaxoSmithcline Ulverston in 1996.
I am honored to be Vice-Chairman of South Lakeland local committee. I look forward to the coming year, and working with my colleagues for the benefit of the people of South Lakeland."
