A survey of 2700 households in Cumbria starts the end of this week. It will focus on people's attitudes towards their neighbours and neighbourhood and different groups in society. The survey is being conducted jointly by Cumbria County Council & Cumbria Police and runs until mid July.
The results will help a wide range of organisations plan their services and give them a clear picture of attitudes in Cumbria.
County Councillor Mike Ash, Deputy Leader of the County Council says
"This is a important issue. We need to understand people’s cultural differences - this is crucial to develop a cohesive community. Embodying diversity within organisations needs to be an ongoing process. We need to look at how we interact with people who may be different to ourselves to avoid preconceptions and stereo-typing. We are committed in using this approach when planning and reviewing services."
The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete. Results from the survey will be available on the Community Voice website by September.
